Helping shape a more practical AI governance foundation for Australian RTOs
The challenge.
Future Skills Organisation was progressing work to shape an AI governance framework for Registered Training Organisations across Australia.
The challenge was not simply to define governance principles. It was to help ensure the emerging framework could work in practice across a sector marked by significant variation in provider size, capability, operating maturity and risk profile.
FSO needed independent advisory input to help review the work underway, strengthen practical application, and support the development of a framework that could be clearer, more usable and more credible across different provider environments.
The role
Altamir provided independent advisory input across framework design and supporting materials.
Our contribution included:
review of draft governance artefacts and working documentation
strengthening the connection between AI use cases, risk considerations and human oversight requirements
applying a human-centred lens to improve clarity and usability
contributing service blueprinting and experience design thinking to help map how AI governance may be engaged with in practice
helping shape practical visual frameworks, supporting tools and governance components for broader sector use
We also provided feedback across core deliverables including framework structure, use case logic, review pathways and supporting guidance materials.
The outcome
The result was a stronger and more practical governance foundation for the sector.
Altamir helped shape materials that were clearer, more structured and better aligned to real operating conditions across Australian RTOs. The work contributed to practical governance components including visual frameworks, risk and review considerations, and supporting artefacts intended to help organisations approach AI adoption with greater confidence and consistency.
What our client said
“Altamir added real value to the development of the FSO AI Governance Framework. Their advisory input helped bring greater clarity, structure and practical application to the work, particularly in shaping how the framework could be understood and used across the RTO sector”
